At Tsunoda Stylings, we search for new and experienced small business owners looking to promote their businesses without breaking the bank!

We partnered with the African American Chamber of Commerce Cincinnati Chapter for a one-month social media giveaway. Please meet one of the four winners Wendy, the CEO and founder of Sanity By Wen! She has won the business logo redesign and media kit package, and we are excited to show off the new designs we created for her. Read below to learn more about her and what she plans to accomplish with the hand-crafted custom jewelry business and her new social media designs designed by Tsunoda Stylings.

Interview with Wendy White:

Jasmine: Tell me a little about your background. When and how did you start your business?

Wendy: I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I went to Walnut Hills High School, where I met my husband, Larry White. I got my Chemistry degree from Xavier of Louisiana and worked in big business for 12 years. After having our 3rd child (Mekai, Melan, and Lawrence III), we decided I would stay home and raise our kids.

I started making jewelry about 15 years ago. Although my first pieces can hardly be called jewelry! Lol!! Over the years, I sold to family members and close friends. I had accumulated many pieces. During the pandemic and spring cleaning, my daughter, Melan found the cases full of jewelry that I had created: these pieces had not been made available to others. She then set up the Instagram page for Sanity.

Jasmine: Why did you decide to become a business owner?

Wendy: It was the natural next step in continuing my personal and business growth.

Jasmine: How did you come up with the name of your company?

Wendy: Making jewelry brings me peace and always has. It has kept me sane in the crazy life of a wife and a stay-at-home Mother of three. From that, Sanity by Wen was created.

Jasmine: What is your mission/company saying? How did you come up with that?

Wendy: Peace .. Love, and Sanity

Each time I create a piece of jewelry, I put a little peace and love in it. I wish to share that with each customer.

Jasmine: What services or products do you offer? - How and where are they made?

Wendy: I design and create uniquely handcrafted earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. I use gemstones, crystals, glass, clay, metals, wood, and other materials. I have a special place in my home that allows me to freely create.

Jasmine: What products/services would you like to add in the future?

Wendy: I would like to do more wire wrapping of pendants and wire-wrapped bracelets and necklaces. I also want to make more custom pieces. I love to make someone’s vision come to life.

Jasmine: What is unique about your company?

Wendy: I am the heart and soul of Sanity. The uniqueness of my creations is that no two pieces are the same!

Jasmine: What’s the best piece of advice anyone ever gave you regarding your business?

Wendy: “Share your pieces with the world … They are too good to be sitting in a box.” Melan Ali White (my daughter)

Jasmine: What advice would you give anyone wanting to start their own business?

Wendy: Do it!! Go at your own pace! Start again!

Jasmine: How did you find out about Tsunoda Stylings?

Wendy: Through The African American Chamber of Commerce.

Jasmine: Does your business give back to your community/charities?

Wendy: I give out pieces of Sanity to unsuspecting customers to pass on a little bit of love. I bring others with me on my journey to uplift my community. I look forward to doing these things on a larger scale.

Jasmine: What are your goals for 2022?

Wendy: My goal is to launch Sanity’s website!!

Jasmine: Any closing remarks you would like to give to our readers?

Wendy: Surround yourself with people who believe in you!! Make sure you return it!!
